What’s in Our Camera Bag: FX3, FX30 & Wedding Films on the Move
Minimalist Setup, Maximum Emotion — Our Real-World Wedding Gear
We travel light — but we don’t compromise on quality.
Our core setup is built around two cameras: the Sony FX3 and FX30. This duo gives us the flexibility, cinematic look, and reliability we need to film weddings and elopements across Europe in all conditions.
Here’s a look inside our actual wedding filmmaking setup — the one that goes with us from Italy to Denmark, Santorini to Switzerland.
🎥 Main Cameras: FX3 + FX30
We shoot all weddings using:
Sony FX3 – full-frame, outstanding in low light, excellent skin tones, 4K 10-bit 4:2:2
Sony FX30 – compact, lightweight Super 35 body, same color science, same media
We run both with:
Matching picture profiles (S-Cinetone or S-Log3, depending on the project)
Dual-card slots for instant backup
Lightweight cages with cold shoe mounts for audio + monitoring
This two-body setup lets us shoot cinematically and safely, with one wide and one tight at the same time, perfect for ceremony coverage or first looks.
🎯 Lenses
We rely on fast primes and a few zooms for flexibility:
24mm f/1.4 – environmental portraits, landscapes, wide views
35mm f/1.4 – our storytelling lens for most movement sequences
50mm f/1.2 or f/1.4 – cinematic closeups, emotional moments
85mm f/1.8 – detail, reactions, ceremony cutaways
Tamron or Sony 24–70mm f/2.8 – for hybrid/chaotic moments
The full-frame + Super 35 combo gives us two different perspectives without switching lenses — ideal for capturing both intimacy and scale.
🔊 Audio Setup
Sound is 50% of the story. Here’s what we pack:
2 lav mics (Sony UWP or DJI Mic) — for vows and ceremony
Tascam DR-10L or Zoom F2-BT – clipped discreetly for backup
On-camera shotgun (Rode NTG or Deity) – ambient, vows, speech
Field recorder (Zoom H5) – when there’s a live band or PA system
We keep two sources rolling at all times. This lets us recover from wind, noise, or unexpected drops in one channel.
🛩 Drone
We use a DJI Air 2S —light, legal in most of Europe, easy to fly even solo.
Drone shots add atmosphere, scale, and quiet movement — especially for elopements in the Alps, coastlines in Portugal, or city rooftops.
⚠️ Always check local regulations — we skip drones in restricted zones like Venice or downtown Paris.
🎒 How We Pack
One camera backpack – FX3, FX30, 3 lenses, audio kit
One side pouch or sling – extra lens, drone, batteries
Flat SSD case – for daily backups
Tiny pouch – SD cards, filters, lens cloth, gaffer tape, snacks
We always hand-carry our gear. No check-in. No risk.
💡 Real-Life Bonus Items
Gaffer tape
Two power banks
Lens cloths (always)
Protein bar or two
Local SIM card with data (for navigation, weather, drone zones)
🎬 Final Thought
You don’t need a giant rig to film weddings that feel cinematic.
You need cameras you trust, sound that doesn’t fail, and a system that disappears — so you can follow the light, the laughter, and the real story.
And for us, FX3 + FX30 is that system.
